Mitsubishi Electric Ecodan Heat Pumps
The Mitsubishi Ecodan has been designed with both the environment and the end user – the home owner – in mind. As a result, they are a perfect blend of environmental responsibility and high rate energy production technology.
Mitsubishi Electric is a market leader in commercial and domestic renewable solutions and pioneers in the development of renewable heat pump technology that offers improved energy efficiency while meeting and exceeding the European Union’s stringent legislation and product requirements.
The Mitsubishi Electric Ecodan Heat Pump Range
The Mitsubishi Electric Ecodan Heat Pump uses proven heat pump technology to deliver effective, low carbon heating and hot water supply. Having won awards for their efficiency, Ecodan systems provide a simple and renewable solution that rivals traditional home heating systems. DMS Installations in Glasgow, Scotland is proud to support the Ecodan and the entire Mitsubishi air source heat pump range.
How the Mitsubishi Electric Ecodan Heat Pump Works
Ecodan heating systems use heat pump technology to provide heating and hot water supply wherever required. The heat pumps only require a small amount of energy input to gather, upgrade, and move heat from one location for distribution in another.
This is achieved through a vapour compression cycle, which has the ability to move heat from one space to another. The efficiency of a heat pump is known as the coefficient of performance or COP; this is the ratio of the heat deliver to power consumed to deliver said heat.
Benefits of the Mitsubishi Ecodan Heat Pump Range
Whether it’s for a small flat or a large detached house, or for an office block or a school, the Mitsubishi Electric Ecodan Heat Pump offers an alternative and eco-friendly alternative choice to traditional heating systems. Ecodan is a reliable, sustainable heating technology capable of providing energy efficient space heating and hot water supply all year round.
As with any heating system, the Mitsubishi Electric Ecodan Heat Pump works best in properties with high levels of thermal efficiency. Wherever possible, property owners, be they private or commercial, should look into cavity wall insulation, loft insulation, double glazing, and other thermal efficiency improvements.

The comprehensive small-scale application Mitsubishi Electric Ecodan Heat Pump range is designed to suit a wide number of situations, from a small flat to a six-bedroom house. The Ecodan systems can cater to the varying requirements of both new build and retro fit homes.
The smallest capacity unit in the Ecodan range is the W50. This heat pump is 5kW and is perfect for use in new build applications due to their inherent modern day thermal efficiencies. With the ability to work at variable capacities, the W50 is ideal for many applications: from smaller existing homes or flats to medium sized newly built homes, the W50 can handle them all.
The W85 is currently the most popular in the Mitsubishi Electric Ecodan Heat Pump range, working at 8.5kW. It is also proving to be effective in both new build and existing home applications. Also able to work at variable capacities, the W85 offers the widest scope in terms of applications.
The Mitsubishi Electric 4kW Monobloc Ecodan heat pump system combines market leading efficiency in hot water production with reliable and renewable heat provision all year round.
The Ecodan QUHZ is the ideal solution for new build homes where strict building regulations drive down the space heating demand, making the production of hot water the dominant load. The Ecodan QUHZ operates with a market leading low noise output and built in energy monitoring as standard.
Designed specifically with large scale applications in mind, the Ecodan CAHV air source heat pump monobloc system can either operate as a single unit or form part of a multiple unit system. The CAHV comes with a variety of different controller features as standard.
A Mitsubishi Electric Ecodan CAHV Heat Pump multiple unit system has the ability to cascade available units on and off to meet the load from a building. As an example of this modulation, a system made of 16 units allows for 0.5kW increments of capacity, from 18kW all the way up to an impressive 688kW. This level of unit modulation has never before been achieved in the air source heat pumps industry. This, combined with cascade and rotation built in as standard, makes the Ecodan CAHV system perfect for a variety of commercial applications.
