Generate free electricity
Solar panel electricity systems, also known as solar photovoltaics (PV), capture the sun's energy using photovoltaic cells. Solar panels don't need direct sunlight to work – they can still generate some electricity on a cloudy day. They convert the sunlight into electricity, which can then be used to run household appliances and lighting.
By generating your own electricity you could save money on your energy bills. You could also be paid for every kilowatt hour (kWh) of electricity that you generate through the government's Feed-in Tariff (FiT). Plus, if you have excess electricity generation then you can earn money by feeding any spare electricity into the Grid.
The benefits of using solar panel electricity systems are wide and varied, but it is their eco-friendly nature that has allowed them to grow in popularity as a top choice for many homes. For peace of mind when looking for a sustainable source of energy that reduces your home’s reliance on fossil fuel-based electricity, you needn’t look further than solar panels. At DMS we are committed to bringing our customers ideas that help save the planet and let you feel good about yourself while you boil your kettle and have a cup of tea.
Solar pv panels are one of the most accessible ways for homes to generate renewable electricity and can be installed in as little as a day. They do not require the space or construction that wind turbines do and are more accessible to the home than hydro-electricity, for instance, and can be left out of the way of damage and eyesight when they are placed atop roofs to catch sunlight day to day. In this way, they become unobtrusive and are not an eyesore. Maintenance is minimal as there are no moving parts in each panel, meaning less time consumed by call-outs for repairs. The only time they will need to be replaced is if they become inefficient or damaged, but this is fairly unlikely and panels naturally have years of use ahead of them guaranteed upon purchase. Cleaning the panels every so often will increase efficiency and allow for the panels to soak up solar energy to their maximum potential. Having solar panels installed at 15° can have the added benefit of allowing rain to run down and off the panel, cleaning them naturally. Otherwise, maintenance is fairly minimal.
The effects on the environment from solar panels are non-existent as they do not produce harmful emissions like other forms of energy generation do and are increasingly being recycled. A 4kWp system installed can save more than a tonne and a half of carbon dioxide every year and generate 3,500kwh of energy over the same time. If one home can save that much carbon combustion from happening, the figures would vastly increase with wider distribution of solar panels. Think of the possibilities if everybody invested in solar power!
As of 2014, an average of 750,000 households in the UK were already making use of solar panels and generating their own energy, millions more worldwide. Thinking of the energy generated by at least one panel per home for the year amounts to a great saving of energy that did not come from the national grid and a good step forward towards reducing the nation’s carbon footprint. Germany managed to produce more than half of their required energy with solar pv panels on June 9th 2014, showing that solar power – if used more widely across the country – has the potential to be the clean energy producer of the future. With sunlight constantly able to be accessed during the day – even on cloudy British days - your home could benefit from solar panels, as could your wallet.

DMS Installations are experts on the installation of Solar Panels for households throughout Scotland. We have a variety of high-quality products to choose from and our expertise in Renewable energy means you can trust DMS Installations to install your solar panels quickly and with the minimum of fuss.. As a driving force behind renewable energy in Scotland, DMS Installations can guide you through the whole process, from inital assessment and EPC, to advice, recommendations and final install.
By installing solar panels, you gain a way to generate your own energy without reliance on the grid for small electrical appliances in the home. Lighting, kettles, and other appliances can use the stored energy from your solar panels. While they use minimal energy daily, over the course of the year you could save yourself a substantial amount of money from your electricity bills and make use of the great source of energy the sun always provides on your own property. Ensuring that your solar panels are not obscured by overhanging trees or other objects is important when maximising how much money you wish to save and the amount of energy you will generate. Your installer will help find the best location to maximise your solar potential.
You can also find ways to move the generated energy that you do not use in the Government’s own buying scheme for renewable energy.
Selling your excess energy on to the Government can be a great way to gain a little extra cash in your pocket towards other bills or anything else you may require it for. There are some requirements, however.
Your solar panels must be fitted by a certified installer under the Microgeneration Certificate Scheme (MCS). Here at DMS Installations we are fully certified to provide you with solar panels and fit them for you, so you can use is in confidence. Contact us for more information about your requirements.
Rates for your energy per kWh vary. The amount you will get is dependent upon the size of your system, what technology you have installed, and when the system was installed. In central Scotland, a 4kWp system could, on average, pay out £400 a year from the Feed-in Tariff and save £200 on most energy bills every year, up to £400 if you use all the electricity during the daytime.
Your payment will come from your current energy provider.
There is also the added benefit of the export tariff – where you pay your energy back to your energy supplier. This has a flat rate of 4.85p per unit of electricity you sell to them, and you can sell up to half of the energy that you generate. You can also save yourself money on your electricity bills for the rest of the energy you use in your home.
To apply for the Feed-in Tariff scheme, contact us as your certified installer and contact a registered energy supplier to start your savings.
Contacted DMS Installations when my boiler packed in. Can not fault the service from start to finish and I'm amazed how quickly my problem was resolved. They sent an engineer out to my house straight away to give me quotes for a new boiler then within three days I now have a new combi boiler fitted!! Which means hot water and working radiators woo hoo!! Would recommend this company to anyone.
Highly knowledgeable and helpful, guided me through the options at length. I was guided to a Renewable solution that pays for itself through RHI / FIT and my bills are down £165 a month. Thanks!
The staff were all very helpful and friendly. I now have the kitchen I wanted. Thank you DMS. The workmen were great guys. I already recommended them to my mate
My mother had her insulation and boiler upgraded, the workman team that did the work were outstanding and very professional> I would gladly reccomend "DMS Installations"
